Champagne celebration! September 2008: Starburst99 can run on a PC! A Windows compatible version of the application has been released on September 30, 2008.

April 2006: Ralph Sutherland updated the density and supernova subroutines, which contained serveral errors. The debugged code was released as version 5.1 on April 10, 2006.

August 2005: Delivery of the theoretical continuum fluxes for the high-resolution spectral library of Martins et al. (2005).

December 2004: Starburst99 v5.0 has been made available to the public. This version offers new evolutionary tracks for old and low-mass stars (Vazquez & Leitherer 2005), as well as a high-resolution spectral library covering the full HRD (Martins et al. 2005).

May 2004: A Linux version of the Starburst99 source code was developed by Jeremy Yates (UCL) and made available on this website.

December 2002: The Starburst99-Mappings interface is up and running. Starburst99 SED's can be used as input into the Mappings photoionization code (Kewley et al. 2003), and nebular properties can be calculated.

July 2002: Release of Starburst99 Version 4.0. Starburst99 now offers the choice of fully line-blanketed WR model atmospheres and non-LTE O-star atmospheres. This upgrade was performed by Richard Norris, Linda Smith, and Paul Crowther. Their work should be referenced as Smith, Norris, & Crowther (MNRAS, 337, 1309 [2002]).

December 2001: Starburst99 Version 3.1 is released. The new version includes a subroutine to calculate synthetic spectra from a high-resolution stellar library of FUSE spectra. The synthetic spectra have 0.12 A resolution and cover the range 1000 to 1180 A.

April 2001: The format of the Starburst99 website undergoes noticable changes for easier, more organized access to information. New features to the site include registration for users to receive up-to-date news and a search engine.

December 2000: Several major improvements to the code were made: (i) yields for Type II supernovae were added; (ii) a spectral library of metal-poor O stars was implemented; and (iii) Miguel Cervino substantially improved the method to calculate SN-related quantities.

October 1999: A new library of B stars generated from the IUE high-dispersion spectra archive is now available!

January 1999: The main paper was accepted for publication in ApJS.

September 1998: Starburst 99 went online. Now the community has access to a more dynamic and user-friendly modeling approach, including an interactive model page.
